Kindergarten at Little Blessings…

Our Kindergarten class meets from 12:30 pm to 3:15 pm.  Children must be 5 years old by October 1st.  The class size is limited to 18 students with two teachers.  This allows us to have plenty of time for small group instruction and one-on-one interaction, meeting your child’s academic, social, and spiritual needs. Time is scheduled each week for Godly Play and Music.  The program is designed to meet the Illinois Learning Standards for Kindergarten.

Our lead teacher holds an Illinois teaching credential.

Kindergarten children have a full day option (9:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.) on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.  Lunch Bunch is available to full day children.  Our menus utilize fresh fruits and vegetables, and avoid processed and fried foods.  Meals are prepared on-site daily.

Tuesday – Kindergarten Reading Workshop

The goal of this class is to increase a love for literature and books, while enriching language arts skills (reading, writing, and oral expression). Literary strategies (rhyming, learning sight words, and using context and picture cues) will be taught. The children will write in journals as they learn to organize their thoughts and communicate on paper.

Thursday – Kindergarten World Travelers

Children in this class will compare characteristics of different cultures and places as they explore the language, food, traditions, and institutions from various countries. During each two to four week adventure, the children will gain skills in literacy, math, social studies, science, and art as they broaden their perspective of the diversity of this world and its people.

Friday – Kindergarten Science & Math Wizards

Children will explore the major content areas in mathematics; number sense, algebra, measurement, geometry, and data analysis and use experimentation to research various science topics. They will learn about growth and change in the earth and the environment as they use observational skills to collect and record data, and document changes.
